"...Crimes of the Primary's raw abandonment
will make it a force to be reckoned with. Keep your eye on this
band..."

Album Review, The Truth (Blunt Magazine Australia, Issue
52)
Packing a hefty load in the industrial division, this West
Australian five piece have stepped away from the big beat style
of their Coma debut of a couple of years ago, finding comfort
in some very dark and emotional places indeed. Overwhelmingly
serious in it's scope, the songs here are thick with electronica
and lush with dense instrumentation. The nightmarish edge everything
has here is no doubt the result of a serious illness suffered
by singer Ellis Atherton, putting the band out of action for two
years.
The Truth isnt a pretty record, and as with anything in this
style, there are echoes of NIN, but COTP retain an abundance of
their own personality while navigating through visceral and dense
soundscapes.

Album Review, The Truth. (Sylvester Fox)
Be Warned, this is no walk in the park.
Settling down into "The Crust" we are presented
with some ambience to the left and a gasping subhuman vocal to
the right. The drums are pounding and it's a soundscape that could
accompany a manic wet Saturday night in the back streets of a
lonely city. The Crust gets more manic until it dies."Grandad"
might not approve of this song being named after him but it ticks
along like a well oiled electronic machine until doses of "guitar-like"
guitars rain down on this desolate soundtrack. And thats the idea,
this is literally the sound of Crimes main man Ellis Atherton's
last two years hanging onto the threads of his life.
I just hope they have made a film to accompany this majestic
madness.
This is the Crimes industrial thing taken one giant
step further, with the only feeble references I can muster are
the darkest strains of NIN, Ministry, Rammstein mixed up with
the atmospherics of a later, meaner Massive Attack. But even that
doesnt do any justice to this gargantuan sonic blast.
Without the assistance of any solvents it will scare the
shit out of you and it will hurt. But you'll know youre alive.
